Senior Portraits for
San Juan Hills High School Students

I regularly photograph seniors from San Juan Hills High School, creating sessions that feel personal, confident, and natural.

San Juan’s historic setting gives us a different look than the coast—more texture, more depth, and a more timeless feel.

Whether you’re drawn to mission walls, warm evening light, or tree-lined paths, each session is built to feel effortless and authentic.

When to Schedule Senior Photos
in San Juan Capistrano

San Juan photographs well year-round, but each season brings a slightly different look.

Spring has soft greenery and blooming florals, summer brings warm evenings, and fall leans into richer tones against the mission-style architecture.

Unlike the beach, a lot of these locations work really well earlier in the day. Mid-morning or late afternoon can still give great light, especially with the shadows and texture around buildings.

Most seniors schedule between late summer and early fall, especially before yearbook deadlines. Weekday sessions usually give us the best mix of light and fewer crowds.

Q&A

Where are the best spots for senior photos in San Juan Capistrano?
The downtown area is hard to beat—there’s a ton of history, alleyways, textured walls, and arches that all photograph really well. Los Rios Street is another great spot if you want something more natural and relaxed. There are also a couple of parks—Reata is one of my favorites with the old sycamores and oaks. If you want something more iconic, you can shoot inside the Mission grounds too. There’s a permit required, but it’s always worth it.

What time is best for senior pictures in San Juan Capistrano?
SJC is a little different than the beach. You can actually shoot at a lot of these spots mid-morning or in the afternoon and still get great light. Sometimes when the sun drops too low, you lose some of the cool shadows on the buildings. So depending on the location, earlier in the day can actually be the better move.

What should I wear for senior photos here?
Earth tones work really well in San Juan—things like tans, whites, and muted colors. It pairs nicely with the Mission and natural backgrounds. I usually recommend one outfit a little more dressed up and one more relaxed.

Do you shoot college graduation photos too?
Yeah, I shoot both high school seniors and college grads. Whether it’s cap and gown or something more laid back, we keep it simple and natural so it still feels like you.

Do you do retouching or editing?
All your images come fully edited and print ready. If you want extra touch-ups, I include a few with each session—short sessions get 3 images of your choice, and longer sessions get up to 5.
