Chart House Dana Point
Wedding Photography
Blufftop ceremonies overlooking the harbor, easy timelines, and light that actually works in your favor.
Why Chart House Weddings Just Work
Chart House is one of those venues that makes the whole day feel easy.
You’re up on a bluff overlooking Dana Point Harbor, the ceremony is right there on the lawn, and everything flows naturally from one part of the day to the next. No driving around, no complicated timeline, no stress.
Most weddings here start in the late morning and wrap up mid-afternoon, which honestly makes for a really relaxed day — and way better energy than dragging things out all night.
The Light Is Already on Your Side
The ceremony lawn faces south, which means earlier in the day you get that soft, backlit light without having to force anything.
We’re not fighting the sun, we’re not chasing shade — it just works. The ceremony looks clean, portraits feel natural, and you’re not stuck squinting through half your wedding.
Harbor Portraits After the Reception
After everything wraps up, we can head down to the harbor for a quick 15–20 minute portrait session.
It’s something I include for Chart House weddings because it’s so close and it gives you a completely different look — boats, water, open space — without adding stress to the timeline.
You get to enjoy your whole day first, then finish it off with some really clean portraits.
It’s a simple way to get a second location without turning the day into a whole production.
Simple Coverage That Fits the Day
Most Chart House weddings fit perfectly into a 6-hour window. You’re not paying for a 10-hour day you don’t need — just coverage that actually matches how the day flows.

Q&A
What makes Chart House Dana Point a great wedding venue?
It’s all about the view. You’re up on the bluff looking out over the harbor and ocean, and the setup is really simple and clean. It’s a great option if you want something smaller and more relaxed but still with that coastal backdrop.
What time are ceremonies usually held at Chart House Dana Point?
Most ceremonies here are in the morning since the venue is south-facing. It actually works really well because the light is softer earlier in the day and you’re not dealing with harsh sun.
How does the weather affect photos at Chart House?
Dana Point gets that morning marine layer sometimes, so it can be a little cooler early on. Most days it burns off by 11 or 12, but even if it sticks around, the overcast light is really nice for ceremony photos—super soft and even.
Where do you take photos at Chart House Dana Point?
There are great views right around the ceremony space, and the interior of the restaurant has some really nice spots as well. We can also move around the area a bit for different angles of the harbor and ocean without going far.
How many speeches should we plan for?
I usually recommend keeping it to a few key people and keeping them short. A couple great speeches always land better than a long lineup, and it keeps the night moving so you actually get time on the dance floor.
