Ole Hanson Beach Club has one of the best oceanfront settings in San Clemente.
The historic building, pool, surrounding grass areas, and beach across the street give us a lot to work with without leaving the venue. The lawn is especially useful for family photos, wedding party photos, and portraits with the building in the background.
I’m local to San Clemente and have photographed weddings and events here for years, so I already know where the light works, where family photos move quickly, and when it makes sense to head toward the beach.

The grassy areas around the Beach Club work well for family photos, wedding party photos, and portraits with the historic building in the background. The pool area and Spanish-style architecture give us a few different looks without having to leave the venue.
The terrace is usually set for dinner and the reception, so there is not always much room for group photos. It can still be a great spot to step out for a quick sunset photo with the ocean in the background.
If the timeline allows, we can also head across toward the beach for a few minutes near sunset.
