San Clemente Pier Photos
A go-to spot for families, seniors, and coastal elopements in San Clemente
WHY THE SAN CLEMENTE
PIER WORKS
The San Clemente Pier is one of the most versatile locations in South Orange County.
You get structure, open beach, and ocean light all in one place. The lines of the pier add depth, while the sand and shoreline keep things relaxed and natural. It’s easy to move through multiple looks without needing to relocate.
It also works for just about any type of session — quick, simple, and clean.
BEST TIME TO SHOOT
Sunset / Golden Hour
This is the go-to. Light over the water just works — clean, simple, consistent.
Morning
Best if you want it quiet. Less people, easy to move around.
Negative Tide (Daytime)
This is the wildcard. We can shoot under the pier — reflections, open shade, completely different look.
Negative Tide + Sunset
This is the one. Everything lines up and it hits hard.
FAMILIES AT THE PIER
Family sessions here stay easy and natural.
Kids have room to move between the sand and shoreline, and we can mix candid moments with a few relaxed posed shots. The variety in a small area keeps things moving without losing attention.
SENIORS AT THE PIER
For seniors, this location gives you multiple looks without overcomplicating the session.
Wood textures from the pier, open beach, and water all within a short walk. It’s perfect for outfit changes and creating a clean, coastal style without needing multiple locations.
ELOPEMENTS AT THE PIER
The pier works well for simple, intimate elopements.
You can keep it low-key, exchange vows with the ocean behind you, and move straight into portraits without any travel. Sunset here makes it even better — soft light, clean background, and a natural flow to the session.
WHAT A SESSION LOOKS LIKE
Sessions here are straightforward and efficient.
Start under the pier — pilings, water moving through, easy backdrop.
Then we hit the beach, usually shooting south toward T-Street. Keep it relaxed, nothing forced.
As the sun drops behind the pier, we turn back and use it in the background.
Finish with sunset and golden hour. Best light, simple, done right.
No overcomplicating it — just clean, natural coverage.

Q&A
Is the pier crowded?
Summer and weekends it can get pretty crowded. Weekdays are usually more open.
Where do we park?
There’s a big public lot by the pier and some street parking. Summer and weekends it can get tight — arrive early and be patient.
Is this spot good for kids?
Yeah — kids love it. Waves, ocean, the pier… not much more you could ask for.
What should we wear here?
Keep it simple. Neutrals always look good with the ocean and wood tones.
